Treatment for acne and acne scarring
Acne can affect people of all ages. It can be a nuisance or downright embarrassing. Acne is thought to be associated with increased androgen levels in the body. Treatment can be multifactorial including topical or oral antibiotics, facial washes (salicylic acid wash), benzyl peroxide and hormone modulating medication.
The aim of treatment is to redu ce the visible appearance of acne and to prevent scarring. Management of acne scarring is more difficult and may involve the use of injectable fillers (also called dermal fillers), prolotherapy (in the form of dermal rolling or Platelet Rich Plasma) or microdermabrasion.
